In ancient Arabia, a slave (Ines Pellegrini) is allowed to choose her next master and selects an innocent young man (Franco Merli), who soon falls madly in love with her. When he makes a foolish mistake that results in her abduction, he sets out to find her, embarking on an adventure rich with exotic tales based on the ancient Middle Eastern anthology, “One Thousand and One Nights,” better known as the “Arabian Nights.” Tales of slaves and kings, potions, betrayals, demons and, most of all, love and lovemaking in all its myriad forms. Mysterious and liberating, this final installment of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s “Trilogy of Life” series is an erotic and exquisitely dreamlike interpretation of the original folk tales. Ninetto Davoli (“The Decameron”) and Franco Citti (“The Canterbury Tales”) also star.
