After the untimely passing of his second wife, sportswriter Joe Warr faces the challenges of being a single parent to his 6-year-old son Artie and a demanding job. Determined to bring joy back into their lives, he develops a revolutionary approach to parenting - no rules, no chores. All is carefree and well until his estranged teenage son comes to visit and things go awry. Joe must find a way to behave more like a parent and keep the household together.
