About this movie
The Invisible Vegan is a 90-minute documentary exploring unhealthy dietary patterns in the African-American community and the benefits of plant-based vegan diets. Featuring interviews with Cedric the Entertainer, John Salley, and Clayton Gavin (Stic of Dead Prez), it examines how slavery, socioeconomic inequalities, and Big Food have increased meat and junk food consumption. Inspired by Ralph Ellison's The Invisible Man, the film highlights how stereotypes about veganism have obscured its benefits. It begins with Jasmine Leyva's personal story, interweaving her experiences with those of other vegan activists.
